In 1999, Willa Ford, then performing under the stage name Mandah, signed with MCA. With MCA, she released a song called "Lullaby" on the double-platinum soundtrack Pokemon: The First Movie. Later she became an opening act for the Backstreet Boys and had a well publicized relationship with one of the members, Nick Carter.

Moving past the celebrity gossip, in 2001, Willa Ford's hard work and golden voice led to the production of her first Album with Atlantic Records, "Willa Was Here". Willa Ford teamed up with some fantastic producers and writers that were renowned for work with Destiny's Child, Aerosmith and Ricky Martin. Willa Ford, the songwriter, wrote the first single, I Wanna Be Bad and co-wrote one of the other tracks. It's said that unlike many of her contemporaries, Willa Ford is determined to pen most of her own lyrics.

Willa Ford is a pop icon. like it or not.
