A HITMAN stabbed a gangster then drove a car over him three times in broad daylight yesterday.

Underworld sources said George "Goofy" Docherty was killed on the orders of a man he had been hired to murder.

The 46-year-old, who survived two other assassination bids, was wearing a stab-proof vest. But a gangland insider said: "His killer stabbed him in the legs to bring him down before running over him to finish him off."

Police forensics officers were scouring the death scene in Tollcross, Glasgow, for clues last night.
