Dover police charged Maryland residents Robert W. Unkle III, 25, and Jessica Gibson, 19, following witness reports of an altercation on James St. near Filmore Ave. Wednesday at 12:39 p.m.

Unkle of Hollywood, Md., was charged with criminal mischief for breaking the windshield of a vehicle that he and Gibson were in. Gibson of Lexington Park, Md., was charged with assault for throwing her coat at Unkle and hitting him outside the vehicle.

Ptl. Jim Hitchcock said the two apparently were arguing when Unkle punched the windshield from inside the car with his hand. They then got out of the vehicle and their activities attracted the attention of two witnesses who called police.

Unkle and Gibson were held in the Tuscarawas County jail at New Philadelphia, pending court appearances.
