Pulse Report:
Ludacris Takes Shots At T.I. And Young Jeezy? Jim Jones Challenges Tru-Life To Knuckle Up, The Game Names Names, Diddy Vs Lindsay Lohan
Friday - June 23, 2006 by Carl Chery
In this week's Pulse Report, the streets are buzzing about who Luda dissed on his new track, Jim Jones daring Tru-Life to box, The Game calling out wack rappers and Diddy kicking Lindsay Lohan out of somebody else's function.
1. Luda goes at T.I. or Jeezy? A day after Ludacris' "War with God' leaked onto the internet, heads are speculating whether he's going at Young Jeezy or T.I. Eyes widened when Luda offered, ""How many times is you gon' rap about bustin' yo gun?/ How many times is you gon' trap without bustin' yo gun?" in the beginning of his second verse. Jeezy and T.I. are believed to be the targets being that they're the trap's premiere's spokesmen. On Rick Ross' "Hustlin" remix, Jeezy ends his verse with "remix still talking white bricks/two million records sold and I'm still talking white shit." Meanwhile, Luda could have possibly countered with, "I paid the price and the cost to be the boss so you can rest your mouth/ I'm universal Luda never limits hisself to the South/ I give a damn about your hootin' and hollerin' it ain't botherin' me/I hear you talking but you ain't made it to three." The aforementioned passage features references that could apply to both the Snowman and self-proclaimed king of the south. Who knows? He may be dissing both or maybe just aiming at studio gangsters. Tip and Luda reportedly squashed their feud a while back and there has been no reports of tension between Luda and Jeezy.
Last night during DJ Kay Slay's "Drama Hour" on New York's Hot 97, DTP co-Ceo Jeff Dixon emailed the song to the Drama king. The Harlemite immediately spun it three times. While SOHH NYC strongly believes that the track aims at Tip, there's still no confirmation. DTP reps could not be reached for comments.
2. Jim Jones challenges Tru-Life to a boxing match. Heads have been wondering why Dipset has been so quiet following Tru-Life's recent disses. [Ed's note: Tru called out the Dips in Complex Magazine and in a recent freestyle] Maybe because the crew has something else in mind. Apparently Jones is a fighter not a writer, so a lyrical response isn't likely to follow. According to Hot 97's Miss Info, the capo is challenging Tru-Life to an ultimate fighting, anything goes-type of brawl for $50,000. Cam'ron and Juelz Santana would also place $20,000 bets on the fight. Needless to say who their money is on.
3. Chuck Taylor names the game's wackest rappers. Following in Kanye's footsteps, Game is re-entering the Pulse Report after a long absence. During a recent appearance on Los Angeles' Power 106 radio show, Mr. Taylor obliged when asked who rap's three wackest rappers were. "Can it be 6 members? Yung Joc, Lil Scrappy, Young Gunz as one person," Game asked 106 personality Big Boy. Fittingly, Scrappy's next LP is to be released via a G-Unit joint venture and Young Gunz have always been in Game's line of fire for some reason. Where's Memphis Bleek on this list?
4. Diddy kicks Lohan out. The nerve of this dude. Diddy has been known to shut down celebrities if they show up at his functions without the proper dress code. But how are you gonna kick a celeb out of somebody else's party? Shortly after allegedly getting into an altercation with Paris Hilton at a Los Angeles night club, Lohan reported to her VIP table only to notice that the Puffster was seated with her group. According to New York's Daily News, Lohan jokingly asked Diddy what he was doing there. Offended, Diddy, who didn't realize that she was kidding, ordered her to leave the spot. The Daily News source says security later "moved Lindsay out of the booth." Once outside, the frustrated teenybopper then asked the club's owners for Diddy to be booted. She wasn't successful.
5. Smoke of Field Mob gets weed for Ciara, sike! Practical jokes are getting more serious nowadays. Earlier this week, Smoke took part in (New York) Z100's "Romeo Celebrity Prank Calls." In the prank, Smoke called his dad and pretended that his cousin Ciara (yes, "Goodies" Ciara) asked him for some reefer. "She said she done smoked something before and she was in love with it. She love weed. I was like for real?" Smoke told his pops over the phone. "I don't smoke no more, I'm out there on probation. She said 'you ain't gotta smoke with me. I just wanna smoke something.' She said 'I know your name Smoke and we cousins. You know how to get it and you been in jail." I was like, 'aight cuz, the phone ain't tapped is it?'"
6. Nore and E-40 join forces. Reputed for branding his own slang, Nore is slated to link with slangmaster extraordinaire E-40. Recently appearing on MTV2, the Queens rapper revealed that his long delayed album, NORE Y La Familia, reportedly features a collaboration with Fonzarelli. The song promises by its title alone: "Give Me My Slang Back." Nore plans on making the track the B side to a record he's putting out with Mariah Carey.
7. Snoop jams with American Idol winner. We knew Snoop's appeal stretched pretty wide... But American Idols? Not Rubben Studdard either. Earlier this week, during a concert in Alabama, American Idol winner Taylor Hicks joined Snoop onstage to the crowd's surprise. The gray-hair 29-year-old played the harmonica, freestyling during Snoop's "Gin and Juice." "I have the greatest respect for Snoop Dogg as an artist, but also as a family man, a businessman and an integral part of pop culture," Hicks, who is from Alabama, revealed before jumping onstage. "Rap music has the most advanced lyricism there is. Rap is real; there's nothing pretentious about it. I'm very excited about appearing with Snoop. I think it's great."
