Will American Idol Duet Be Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney?
Oh, those tricky American Idol producers have done it again. After
months of denying that Michael Jackson or Paul McCartney will be
appearing on American Idol, they go and drop a teaser that is bound to
start up speculation again.
In a preview for Idol Gives Back, Ryan Seacrest listed several of the guests appearing. Included on Seacrest’s list were Pink, Gwen Stefani, Earth, Wind & Fire, Il Divo, Keira Knightley, Hugh Grant, Josh Groban, Jack Black, Helen Mirren, Rascal Flatts, Quincy Jones, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Annie Lennox. Then, Seacrest added “Plus a duet you will have to see to believe when two of the biggest stars in musical history come together on our stage.”
Any time that someone claims to have two of the biggest stars in musical history performing a duet, then Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney are certainly two names that will come up. But assuming that American Idol producers have been telling the truth all along and Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney won’t be appearing on the show, then who else might be on the duet list. Some other names that spring to mind are Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, and Madonna.
Because the image in the background when the duet was mentioned was of a man and a woman, the majority of early speculation on message boards revolves around one male and one female in the duet. Some popular early guesses have been Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and Paul McCartney and Celine Dion. Some of the more outrageous guesses include Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, and Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.
The reality is that with American Idol there is no telling. After Prince popped up on the finale last year, denials by American Idol producers don’t really mean much. However, in Michael Jackson’s case, his agent issued at least two statements denying there is any deal for Michael Jackson to appear on American Idol. Then again, considering all the strange stuff that Michael Jackson gets accused of on a daily basis, it seems weird that his agent would choose a rumor about Jackson appearing on America’s most popular television show as one that he would just have to speak out against multiple times. Post your guesses for the American Idol duet in the comments section below.

It's Definitely Shakira & Beyonce

If the show is live next week, then this photo can't be the people who are performing. It is most likely generic model for the photo.
As for performers, I say it is Boy George and Fred Durst.

prince and janet jackson

For the people who are going based on the silhouettes that were shown at the announcement, don't be misled. What are the very slim chances that they would have been able to get some major stars to come out to be shown in silhouette just for some advertising? Be real. Those are some random people that they had backstage standing in those lights just for effect. So, surmising that it is a man and a woman or that the silhouette was too thin for Mariah, etc is a waste of time since THOSE WERE NOT THE STARS THAT ARE PERFORMING. All we know is that there are two megastars performing a duet.
We now return you to your regular programming...already in progress...

The day that Idol puts on a washed up pop star with a murky history of child molestations accusations, IT will be history.

I guess the writer of this article is clueless that Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson don't speak.
Posted by: Susan | April 19, 2007 at 01:47 PM
Trust me, anyone who knows MJ knows that he and Paul no not even speak to each other, in fact, they highly dislike each other. Never in this world would they ever be in the same place at the same time let alone do a duet together! And people need to stop writing crap about Michael Jackson and American Idol because HE IS NOT GOING TO APPEAR ON THE SHOW!!!

Well, from the sillouhette (spelling?) it looks like a man and a woman. The female looking figure has a coke bottle shape so I would definitely say that one of the two is female. The other looks straight up and down so I think it's a guy. It could be Janet and Michael because Janet has a coke bottle shape and is shorter than Michael. They could perform their duet song, "Scream". I always dreamed of seeing them perform that song together. It can't be Whitney because Whitney is a little tall and her body is not shaped like that female figure's body. I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

The duet is Celine Dion and Elvis (Elvis impersonator is who is standing in that shot) They will be using a greenscreen shot of Elvis. I was at the taping at CBS this week for the performance.

well i hope that the rumors of MJ and paul are true.but i think that would be a very funny idol show.
Posted by: mari baisden | April 19, 2007 at 04:31 PM
It's ROB AND AMBER!
Posted by: Skye | April 19, 2007 at 04:33 PM
It is not celine dion and elvis presley. And CBS does not air American Idol. I am not sure who you are sir but definately have a screw loose. I heard it was not mj for sure he is still in banglapore or whereever he goes to get away. And Celine Dion would be horrible.
Posted by: jackson notary | April 19, 2007 at 04:41 PM
A virtual reality Elvis? Please, let him rest in turmoil~~~ And no Celine---they waste too many opportunitites warbling her songs like Whitney and her screeching vocals.
None of us need to see either of them.
I really think Axle Rose comes out of retirement to screech around the air-headed Mariah!
What a great duo!!!!
Vote Now!!

Stop guessing MJ. It has been confirmed that he is NOT going to be on the show AT ALL.
My guess is that it might not even be a woman and a man. The image above could just be a random thing they decided to throw out to confuses us all.
Posted by: | April 19, 2007 at 05:04 PM
My guess is Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan or Jennifer Lopez!!!!
I'd recognize those arms anywhere!!!!!
