New gigs for Carey, Braxton this summer
Mariah Carey will hit the road for the first time in more than three years this summer and Toni Braxton will take up residency in August with a gig at the Flamingo in Las Vegas.
Carey’s Adventures of Mimi: The Voice, The Hits, The Tour arena outing is scheduled to begin Aug. 5 in Miami and run through Oct. 10 in Phoenix, Billboard reports.
Sean Paul will open the majority of the tour's first portion, with other openers to be announced. Tickets begin going on sale June 2.
The tour comes in support of Carey's smash hit album "The Emancipation of Mimi," which has sold 9 million copies worldwide, according to Island Def Jam. The artist hasn't been on the road since summer 2003, when a planned arena tour was downsized to theaters.
Braxton will follow in the Vegas footsteps of Celine Dion and Elton John with "Toni Braxton: Revealed" at Harrah's Entertainment's Flamingo resort starting Aug. 3.
"There is nothing like the thrill of performing nightly to a live audience with fans that have supported me throughout my career," Braxton said in a statement.
Tickets for the show, priced at $65, $75 and $100, are on sale via the Flamingo boxoffice.
