Windermere Union Preschool plans reunion
In conjunction with its yearlong theme, Homecoming and Housewarming Celebrations, Windermere Union Church is sponsoring a reunion and homecoming celebration for all past and present preschool teachers and students. The festivities will take place Sunday, May 7, at both the 9 and 11 a.m. service.
There will be a reunion reception between the services to give everyone a chance to visit with old friends and make some new ones. The community is invited to attend.
The congregation expects a large turnout for the preschool reunion because the school has a long history. The Windermere Union Preschool was founded in 1958 because there was a community need. It started with a five-day program for 5-year-olds, which was then called a kindergarten.
Over the years, the program has been expanded and now the school offers four classes and serves more than 100 children, ages 3 and 4, with a waiting list.
Several of the school's teachers have served more than 20 years.
The congregation is currently constructing a new church and preschool on Park Ridge Gotha Road and will be relocating from its current location at 436 Oakdale St.
When the school reopens for the fall in the new location, it will have space for six classes.
