SPRING IN THE AIR

August 31, 2006

Whales on show at Logans Beach.

When the sun shines from a clear blue sky and the temperature creeps to a balmy 17 degrees the urge to leap for joy cannot be denied.

Warrnambool’s visiting whales seemed to sense the imminent arrival of spring yesterday, one young calf in particular putting on an exuberant display of high spirits.

Its mother lolled contentedly about nearby while surfers  joined in the fun at Logans Beach.

With a top temperature of 21 degrees tipped for today, whale watchers can expect another spectacular southern right show.
