Quick Hits: The Killers, Jet, Wu-Tang Clan, Kid Rock, Trey Anastasio, Supernova, Snoop Dogg, Tenacious D, Tom Waits
August 18, 2006

The Killers have announced an October tour in support of their sophomore album Sam's Town. The trek begins with a two-night stand in Los Angeles on October 6 and 7. Two dates are also scheduled for New York City's Madison Square Garden Theatre on October 25 and 26. The Killers return to their hometown of Las Vegas as one of the headliners of the Vegoose Festival on October 28. Sam's Town will be released on October 3.

Jet

Also slated for release on October 3 is Shine On from Jet. The Australian band has revealed the tracklisting for the album, with 15 songs on the new record. Jet is also slowly announcing their North American fall tour, which MTV.com reports will run from September 18 to October 6. So far, a Philadelphia gig on September 29 is the only one officially confirmed.

System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian is expected to join the Wu-Tang Clan on-stage this weekend, playing bass for the Hip-Hop collective at their shows in New York, Philadelphia and Winston-Salem, NC. MTV.com reports that Odadjian has been collaborting with the RZA recently in the studio.

For the third time in a row, Kid Rock has married Pamela Anderson. This time, the very happy couple tied the knot in Nashville, TN. The couple promises one more wedding by the end of the summer, supposedly in the Kid's hometown of Detroit.

Phish main man Trey Anastasio has started his own label imprint, Rubber Jungle, which will be distributed by RED. Its first release will be Anastasio's next solo album, Bar 17, which Billboard reports will be out on October 3. Among the contributors to the album are his fellow Phish alums Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman.

Reality show supergroup Supernova have set a release date for their debut record. Despite not having chosen a singer yet, their self-titled debut will arrive on November 21. Those who pre-order the album online will get a bonus DVD as well as enter a contest to fly to Los Angeles for the show's finale. Meanwhile, co-host Dave Navarro tells AOL Music he plans to have Rob Zombie on the show as a guest judge.

Snoop Dogg's live CD and DVD Drop It Like It's Hot will be released on October 10. The set was filmed live in Brussels, Belgium.

Tenacious D

The trailer for the long-awaited flick Tenacious D In The Pick Of Destiny debuts online. See Jack Black & Kyle Gass meet Sasquatch and the devil as they track down the most powerful guitar pick in the universe here.

A three-disc box set is on the way from Tom Waits entitled Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers And Bastards. The collection will be released on November 21 and features 54 songs, including 30 new tracks, all of which are rare or previously unreleased. Waits describes the set as "rough and tender tunes. Rhumbas about mermaids, shuffles about trainwrecks, tarantellas about insects, madrigrals about drowning. Scared, mean, orphaned songs of rapture and melancholy. Songs that grew up hard. Songs of dubious origin rescued from cruel fate and now left wanting only to be cared for. Show that you are not afraid and take them home. They don't bite, they just need attention."
