Tech N9ne Information
|
|
'Tech N9ne' (born November 8, 1971 in Kansas City, Missouri as 'Aaron D. Yates') is a rapper. He was raised in a strictly religious family for most of his life. When he was 15, his uncle slipped him a copy of a rap CD. At that point, 1985, Tech N9ne was born. He became known in Kansas City underground rap circles with his single Mitch Bade (ft. Bakarii) after his group, NNUTT HOWZE, was dropped from Perspective Records (owned by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis). He also enjoyed local success as a member of the 57th St. Rogue Dog Villains with their single Let's Get Fucked Up (Let's Get Crunked Up on the radio). Through his work with producer QDIII (son of Quincy Jones), and rappers 2Pac and Yukmouth, he became known in the San Francisco Bay Area. After two record deals fell through, he started his own label, Strange Music, and released AngHellic and Absolute Power. Other hits include I'm a playa, Imma tell, and Einstein. His popularity has increased of late, as his song Beast will be included in the Madden '06 video game. Interestingly, one of his largest cult followings is at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Tech N9ne's core following is from Juggalos (fans of the band Insane Clown Posse). His style of hip hop walks side by side with that of ICP and juggalos have welcomed Tech into their family. Key artists that have collaborated with Tech include: Tupac Shakur, Eminem, Insane Clown Posse, Xzibit, RZA, MC Ren, Roger Troutman, Spice 1, Yukmouth, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Kottonmouth Kings, D12, E-40, C-bo, Brotha Lynch Hung, Twiztid, Krs-One, Chino-XL, Jayo Felony, Esham and King Gordy.
