on the verge: Psapp
|
|
|
|
Fans of the TV medical drama Grey's Anatomy may have that show's theme -- a tinkly little number that sounds like a jazz combo playing inside an antique music box --
permanently stuck in their heads, but they not be familiar with the band behind it: British pop-electronica-random- noise duo Psapp.
With their second full-length album, The Only Thing I Ever Wanted, ready to traipse out into the world, Galia Durant and Carim Clasmann's agitated-yet-swooning, electro-acoustic
pop gems are about to get stuck inside even more heads. Which sure beats humming "Bad Day" all day long.
Listen: Hi
Watch: Tricycle
Read: Galia and Carim take ARTISTdirect's "If You're Forced To" challenge!
Check out albums from more On the Verge artists in the ARTISTdirect Store.

artist picks: Sonya Kitchell
|
|
|
Joss Stone? Washed up. Jamie Cullum? Over the hill. Norah Jones? Sooo three years ago. In the world of wise-beyond-their-years
purveyors of sophisticated pop, newcomer Sonya Kitchell trumps them all.
At the tender age of 16, Sonya wrote and recorded her jazzy/bluesy debut album, Words Came Back to Me, and had the privilege of being one of the first artists
signed to Starbucks' Hear Music label. Now all of 17, she's taking the world by storm with appearances on CBS' The Early Show
and The Late Show with David Letterman, plus a national tour opening for that elder statesman of adult-pop singer-songwriters, Jamie Cullum (he's 26).
Recently, Sonya shared a list of her favorite albums with us, along with a youthful disclaimer: "I am being exposed to new music and sounds almost daily, so this list is subject to change."
Duly noted, Sonya!
