Staind Information

|
'Staind' is a four-piece hard rock/post-grunge/nu-metal group from Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. Band members * Aaron Lewis - Vocals/Acoustic Guitar * Mike Mushok - Guitars * Johnny "Old School" April - Bass and Background Vocals * Jon Wysocki - Drums History Staind self-released their debut album, Tormented, in November 1996. Their sophomore album, Dysfunction (produced by Fred Durst and released on Elektra Records), was their breakthrough and has sold more than two million albums in the United States. Staind got their big break following an argument with Fred Durst while opening for Limp Bizkit in October 1997 in Hartford, Connecticut at the Webster Theater. A discussion between Fred Durst, (then lead singer of one of the most popular bands of the mid-90's) and Aaron Lewis erupted into an argument over the moral issue presented by the cover of Staind's LP "Tormented", (pictured below) which depicted a cross and what appeared to be a lot of blood. Despite the argument, Fred Durst was impressed by Staind's live performance and the same night arranged their first record deal. Staind toured with Limp Bizkit for the Family Values Tour during the summer of 2000, which set them up for their smash hit 2001 album Break the Cycle, which has sold more than 5 million copies in the US. While on tour, Aaron Lewis and Fred Durst performed an acoustic version of "Outside" to the accompaniment of hundreds of waving cigarette lighters. The video shot at the event proved popular, and has received more airplay on some television stations than any of Staind's official videos. It officially went on to launch Staind's mainstream success. Staind embarked on a world-wide tour in 2003 to promote 14 Shades Of Grey, which has sold 2 million albums. Their appearance at Reading Festival during the tour had another impromptu acoustic set, this time due to equipment failure. During a break between making a new album, Aaron Lewis performed backing vocals for good friends Jimmie's Chicken Shack for their single "Falling Out" on their new release "Re.present" (released in 2004) Staind's newest album, titled Chapter V was released on August 9, 2005, which has been certified platinum. Staind appeared on the Howard Stern Show on August 10, 2005, to promote their new album Chapter V. They performed acoustic renditions of the single Right Here and Beetlejuice's song "This is Beetle." Their rendition of "Beetle" is immensely popular with listeners and has become a staple of the show. A black-and-white animated video was created for the song by Kevin Lofton, who does all the animation for the Howard Stern website. Staind also plans to release a Special Edition of "Chapter V" this November. The album will contain "Beetle" as well as the rest of the original tracks. Their song "Price to Play" was the official theme song of WWE's Vengeance pay-per-view event in July 2003. As well, their song "So Far Away" was featured on an episode of WWE RAW as part of a video tribute to hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley. Discography Studio albums
