Louisville's Second Story Man played Kentucky's recent Forecastle Festival alongside Sleater-Kinney, but the tunes on its MySpace profile (myspace.com/secondstoryman) reveal a quartet whose musical influences move well beyond those of the late riot grrrls. This year's Red Glows Brighter veers from vague power-pop à la the New Pornographers, with a little Dressy Bessy twee-core thrown in for good measure — although older tunes show a bit of Rainer Maria sturm ünd drang thrown in for good measure. James Will & the Engines of Creation play their second show tonight, so show up early.
