Dixie Chicks Resurface With New Album

LAUNCH Radio Networks Mon Mar 13, 12:00 PM ET

Four years after the release of their last album, Home, the Dixie Chicks are making a return with a new project called Taking The Long Way. All 14 of the songs on the album were co-written by Dixie Chick members Marty Maguire, Emily Robison and

Natalie Maines. Taking The Long Way was produced by Rick Rubin, who produced Johnny Cash's last few albums, as well as acts like
Neil Diamond
, Run DMC and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Some song titles on the forthcoming album include "Lubbock Or Leave It," "Everybody Knows," and "Not Ready To Make Nice," a reaction to the fallout after Maines spoke out against

President Bush a few years ago.

Of that tune, Robison said, "The stakes were definitely higher on that song We knew it was special because it was so autobiographical, and we had to get it right. And once we had that song done, it freed us up to do the rest of the album without that burden." Maines added, "This album was total therapy. I'm way more at peace now. Writing these songs and saying everything we had to say makes it possible to move on."

Taking The Long Way is set for release on May 23rd.

The trio will soon announced plans for a worldwide tour that will kick-off this summer.
