Guerra's five nods included album of the year and merengue album of the year for "La Llave de Mi Corazon," which stretches the bounds of contemporary bachata and merengue. The hit title song, which topped Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, was nominated in three categories, including record and song of the year.
Puerto Rican star Ricky Martin and urban duo Calle 13 followed with four nominations each.
Martin picked up an album of the year nomination for his comeback disc of sorts, "MTV Unplugged," as well as a record of the year nomination for the single "Tu Recuerdo."
Calle 13, winner of last year's best new artist award, will compete for album of the year and best urban music album for the irreverent "Residente o Visitante."
Miguel Bose was cited for three awards, including album of the year for "Papito." Venezuelan troubadour Franco De Vita also got three nominations, including song of the year for "Tengo" and best male pop vocal album for "Mil Historias que Contar."
The eighth annual Latin Grammy Awards will take place November 8 in Las Vegas and will air on Univision. Winners will be determined by votes from members of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences.
