Bill Cherpak remembers his days as a Pitt Panther. A Western Pennsylvania native, Cherpak experienced many of the procedures high school athletes go through while choosing a school today. Recruited then by current Panther assistant coach Bob Junko, Cherpak played for the Panthers from 1985-89 under then-head coach Mike Gottfried.

How about this - let's not take a look at the "K-Zone"! Watching baseball on television is starting to become like going to an NBA game - a big distraction from what you're actually interested in. Apparently, television minds feel the average baseball fan has the attention span of a goldfish.

Panthers primed for upcoming Big East Tournament

The Pitt tennis team is on a roll, recording its second consecutive 5-2 victory last weekend when they defeated the Villanova Wildcats and the Bucknell Bison. "We are definitely in the Big East Championship now, after getting the win against Villanova. Only 12 out of 16 teams qualify and we will most likely be the 11th seed," explained head coach George Dieffenbach.

New NFL broadcast crews will make for an interesting season

Change can be a good thing, and in the NFL - a league that changes rules and networks more often than Jerry Jones changes his prosthetic head - change is on the horizon for sports fans in TV land. After 36 years on ABC, Monday Night Football has moved up the dial to ESPN.
