Reeve Oliver Information

|
'Reeve Oliver' is more than a year old now and has evolved from a "garage-band" into a much more serious outfit under their former label: 'The Militia Group' label (they signed with 'Capitol Records' in August 2005). Their touring with Yellowcard has helped a tremendous deal, as has their re-recording of the popular songs from their EP (Like I Want Burns, which has much more style this time around) and releasing a self-named LP. Part of the reason that bands like Reeve Oliver succeed is because they are talented enough to produce great music, and savvy enough to present themselves to the public as the "Next Big Thing". This helps to explain why the band picked up the San Diego Music Award for Best Rock Album...despite the fact that last year, when they won the award, they had only recorded a 6 track EP entitled The Reevolution EP. In 2005, they were nominated for, and won, Best Rock Album, a panel-selected award for the San Diego Music Awards. Reeve Oliver's sound is that of very catchy rock; while appealing and easy to remember, the lyrics do not lack for depth, much to the rejoicing of fans. And while many would view the guitar/bass/percussion combination as banal in a time when there are many over-hyped rock bands with the same instrumental make-up, Reeve Oliver surpasses expectations with O'Donnell and O's harmonies, and the surprising, unpredictable, direction many of their songs take. This is a band that is operating with the quintessential elements that a rock band needs, and succeeding. In the fall of 2005, Reeve Oliver will be opening for Switchfoot on the first half of their Nothing Is Sound Tour, playing under their new label, Capitol Records.
