The Anglo-Swedish fourpiece's song "America" jumped from 15th to the top position, pushing the New Yorkers' "I Don't Feel Like Dancin"' down to second.
American actor and singer David Hasselhoff, best known for his roles in Baywatch and Knight Rider, was the highest new entry at number three with "Jump in My Car."
Rising 26 places to number four was Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of U.S. band The Pussycat Dolls, with her new single "Come to Me."
French DJ-producer Bob Sinclar climbed from 21st to number five with "Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)," which also features the French DJ Cutee B.
The Killers, a band from Las Vegas, Nevada, fell four places to number six with "When You Were Young," while London-based singer Lily Allen slipped one spot to seven with "LDN."
At eight was schoolboy pop star Lil' Chris with "Checkin' It Out," according to the chart compiler the Official UK Charts Company.
"Sexyback," by U.S singer Justin Timberlake, dropped four places to ninth and Arkansas band Evanescence rounded out the top 10 with "Call Me When You're Sober."
In the album charts, The Killers were a new entry at number one with "Sam's Town," while Evanescence entered in second place with "The Open Door."
