'Pinback' is an indie rock band from San Diego. The band was formed in 1998 by Armistead Burwell Smith IV a.k.a. Zach (Three Mile Pilot, Systems Officer) and Rob Crow (Heavy Vegetable, Thingy, Optiganally Yours, Physics, Goblin Cock, Alpha Males).
The name Pinback is a reference to the whiny janitor in the film Dark Star (played by Dan O'Bannon, who also co-wrote the film).
