Nothingface Information
|
|
'Nothingface', formed in Washington, D.C. in 1994, was an alternative metal/heavy metal quartet. They were often compared musically to Slipknot and other stars of the alternative/nu metal genre. The band was notable for, particularly in earlier albums, exstensive use of odd time signatures, polyrhythmic syncopation, and at times mixing in samples of dialogue or other recordings. Nothingface was originally comprised of vocalist David Gabbard, guitarist Tommy Maxwell, drummer Chris Houck and bassist Bill Gaal. They released 3 demo tapes with this lineup, then Gabbard left the band citing musical differences. At this point Matt Holt started singing for the group. They then recorded a demo cd, which contained demos of 6 tracks which would later be on the album Pacifier and 4 tracks which wouldn't. Pacifier was origianlly released in 1996 on Dcide Records. It was then re-released August 11, 1998 on Dcide/Mayhem Records. September 22, 1998 An Audio Guide To Everyday Atrocity was released on Dcide/Mayhem. October 10, 2000 saw the release of their national debut Violence through TVT records. Chris Houck recorded drums for this album, and then left the group, being replaced by Tommy Sickles (of ingredient 17 fame). In early 2001 Bill Gaal left the group to persue a career in music production & engineering. He was replaced by Jerry Montano. A few months later Bill Gaal returned to his position as bassist. On April 22, 2003 Skeletons was released through TVT records. This would be their last album. The group disbanded on February 10,2004, citing musical differences, turmoil, and label troubles. Bill Gaal went on to form Kingdom of Snakes with former members of the band Gunfighter. Their debut EP features vocal work from Matt Holt on one track. Tom Maxwell and Tommy sickles were in the band called Blessed In Black featuring ex-Skrape vocalist, Billy Keeton as well as Jerry Montano on bass. However Bily left the the band, leaving their future uncertain. As of November 24th, 2005 A posting on Jagermeister.com has showed Nothingface as the opening act for Disturbed in a 2006 show. A Possible Nothingface reunion might be upon us, or maybe just a one off. (from blabbermouth.net) Bill Gaal will not be leaving kingdom of snakes, and it is not likey that he will return for this performance, or any future work with the band. The lineup for this show will (most likely) consist of Matt Holt, Tom Maxwell, Tommy Sickles & Jerry Montano.
