'Nick Carter' (born 'Nickolas Gene Carter' on January 28, 1980 in Jamestown, New York, USA) is a member of the popular music boy band the Backstreet Boys and is generally considered the biggest heart-throb in the group.
Private life
His mother, Jane Spaulding, is a Mayflower descendant of Welsh, Irish, German, English and 1/4 Blackfoot Indian ancestry, while father Robert Eugene Carter is of Jewish heritage. Carter's parents are divorced and his father remarried Ginger Elrod on April 1, 2004.
Nick's siblings include Angel, Leslie, Roberta Jean "B.J." and singer Aaron Carter. He also has a half-sister named Virginia, from his father's first marriage. In June of 2005, Carter welcomed the birth of his half-brother, Kanden (from his father's new marriage).
Carter was linked with hotel heiress Paris Hilton, and by late 2003, the two were publicly dating. The relationship ended in 2004. In March 2005, Carter was arrested in Huntington Beach, California for drunk driving and was found guilty. In late 2005, Carter was rumoured to be engaged to Chinese entertainer Bai Ling, although he has denied this.
Music career
Carter has sung on some of the band's chart-toppers, and his fame has also helped propel the career of his brother Aaron.
In 2002, he released a pop-rock solo album titled Now Or Never.
Carter is currently back on tour with the Backstreet Boys, who are promoting a new album called Never Gone; their first single was "Incomplete" and their second is "Just Want You To Know". As of Fall 2005, they are touring Europe.
