CORRECTED: Crowded House set to regroup, tour this year: paper

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Crowded House, the Australian-New Zealand band that generated a series of hits in the late 1980s before they split up in 1996, looks set to regroup and go on a world tour this year, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

Julia Connolly, a spokeswoman for Finn's office, told the newspaper that further auditions were planned in Auckland and Los Angeles. "At the moment, they're just working at getting the band together," she said. "Something's formally coming out once the band is in place."

Crowded House is expected to launch a 12-month world tour. The Dominion Post said Finn's British-based managers were due to make an announcement this week and, judging from the buzzing traffic on fan website www.frenz.com, fans were eager for dates.

Crowded House's best-known hits include "Weather with You" and "Don't Dream It's Over," which was re-recorded by several other artists and used by the New Zealand Tourism Board in its advertisements.
