Asked why he opted to expand his deal with Mute, Moby told Billboard.com, "A: I live a few blocks from Mute U.S headquarters, B: the people at Mute U.S. are my friends, and C: the people at Mute U.S are smart and love music."
The New York-based artist has been working on his next studio album for the past year but has yet to announce a release date. The set will be the follow-up to 2005's "Hotel."
In the meantime, Moby has a few DJ gigs on tap for the summer, beginning Friday at Nublu in New York, and continuing to Italy on July 27 (Naples), July 28 (Jesolo) and July 29 (Milan).
Mute's other artists include Nick Cave, Paul Van Dyk, Goldfrapp and Erasure.
