Mis-Teeq Information

|
'Mis-Teeq' was a female R&B trio from the UK. Its members were Alesha Dixon, Su-Elise Nash and Sabrina Washington. There was originally a fourth member in the group, called Zena, but she left in March 2001 because she didn't get on with the rest of the group. They released two studio albums. From their first album, "Lickin' On Both Sides" (2001) which peaked at number three in the UK albums chart in 2001, they released five singles in the UK, all of which entered the UK singles chart in the top ten ("Why?" number eight in 2001, "All I Want" number two in 2001, "One Night Stand" number five in 2001, "B With Me" number five in 2002 and "Roll On/This Is How We Do It" number seven in 2002). All but the first also had success in Australia, on the Australian ARIAnet singles chart, the first three of them making the top thirty, and the other going top fifty. Their second album, "Eye Candy" (2003) peaked at number six in the UK, and three singles were released from it. Two of them made the UK top ten and the other made top twenty ("Scandalous" number two in 2003, "Can't Get It Back" number eight in 2003 and "Style" number thirteen in 2003). They also had their first top ten single in Australia, with "Scandalous". They slammed Victoria Beckham, claiming that Telstar Records, the record label they both shared, spent too much money on her and focussed on her music career over other the artists on the label, including Craig David. Beckham did not achieve the success the label had expected, and this led to the bankruptcy and collapse of the label. "Scandalous" was released in the US in May 2004, and made number thirty-five on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in June, under another label Reprise. The song was featured on the soundtrack of commercial flop movie 'Catwoman', starring Halle Berry. In January, 2005, the group announced their break-up, saying they intended to concentrate on their solo careers. In 2005, they released a compilation album, Greatest Hits, containing a new track, a cover of The Andrews Sisters 1940s song "Shoo Shoo Baby", and they were awarded a 2005 Soul Train Lady of Soul Nomination for Best R&B/Soul Album - Group, Band or Duo for their album "Mis-Teeq".
