London, Ontario's metal-prone Lander sisters have divulged that Kittie have about 16 songs ready to begin recording for a new and as yet unnamed album.
"We are pleased to announce that we will finally be entering the studio on July 15, 2006, to record our fourth full-length release," the band say in a MySpace blog entry.
"The album will be produced by Jack Ponti, a veteran of the music industry, who has worked with everyone from Bon Jovi, Doro, to Skid Rowand Alice Cooper. He will be coming out of a 15 year retirement to work with Kittie!"
Another seasoned pro, Kevin Shirley (Slayer, Iron Maiden, Silverchair), will mix the album.
Since the 2004 release of Kittie's Until The End album, founding members Mercedes (drums) and Morgan Lander (guitar, vocals) have been joined by Tara McLeod on guitar and Trish Doan on bass. McLeod is a former member or the Strathroy, Ontario band Sherry and Doan used to play with London rockers HER.
While still only in their early twenties, Kittie will be adding to an already impressive discography of three full-lengths and two EPs. The original members recorded their Spit debut in 2000 while in high school when Mercedes was 15 and Morgan was 17. They sold hundreds of thousands of records around the world for Artemis despite revolving lineups.
The ambitious young women have formed their own label, Kiss Of Infamy, to release the new album in partnership with Ponti's The Platform Group and an undisclosed major label distributor early next year.
