Damon Lance Gause
Funeral services for Damon Lance Gause, 62, who died Thursday March 2, 2006 will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson. Interment will be in Evans Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at Evans Funeral Home.
Hazel Johnson
Hazel Turner Johnson, 92, of Palm Coast, Fla., died Saturday, February 18, 2006, in Florida Hospital Flagler.
She was born in Jefferson on January 4, 1914, and was the daughter of the late Hugh and Kittie Mae Blackstock Turner. She had been a resident of Palm Coast for the past 17 years, coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and was active with ARC of Flagler County. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and a step-son, Weldon.
Survivors include daughters, Rebecca Bearss and Hazel Johnson, both of Palm Coast; son-in-law, Charles Bearss; two grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Daisy Mae.
Private burial was in Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.

William Manning
William Dalton Manning, 57, of Austell, died in a Cobb County hospital. He was known for his art work.
Mr. Manning was the son of Mildred Dalton Manning, Trenton, N.J., formerly of Jefferson. She was an Army nurse during World War II and was captured by the Japanese and held in prison until the Philippines were liberated. She returned to Georgia, married and had two sons. A “Welcome Home” parade was held in Jefferson in her honor.
She has lived for some years in Trenton, N.J.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; one brother, James B. Manning, Trenton, N.J.; and a half-sister, March Price, Marietta.

Ezzelle Wilson
Ezzelle Smith Wilson, 79, of Nicholson, died Friday, February 24, 2006, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
She was born on July 6, 1926, in Jackson County, and was the daughter of the late George Ellis and Ina Eugene Wood Smith. She was a retired sportswear sewing machine operator and attended Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Wilson.
Survivors include a son, Larry Wilson, Jefferson; daughter, Cheryl Wilson Hart, Nicholson; brother, Ray Smith, Nicholson, five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, at the River of Life Worship Center with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and J.D. Sosebee officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery, Nicholson.

Kate McCoy
Kate Ray McCoy, 92, of Commerce, died Friday, February 24, 2006, at Habersham County Medical Center.
She was born on January 9, 1914, in Banks County, and was the daughter of the late Lindsey C. and Recie Pritchett Ray. She was a homemaker and attended Beaverdam Baptist Church. Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy McCoy, and a daughter, Joann McCoy McDuffie.
Survivors include two sons, Tim McCoy, Maysville, and Randy McCoy, Marietta; a daughter, Marie McCoy Evans, Commerce; sister, Jimmie Cochran, Ringgold; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Revs. Sam Ragan and Chad Payne officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

L.B. Minish
L.B. Minish, Jr., 89, of Commerce, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
He was born on May 7, 1916, in Madison County, and was the son of the late L.B. Minish, Sr. and Estelle Arnold Minish. He was a member of Erastus Christian Church and was a retired farmer. Mr. Minish was preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Ingram Minish; sisters, Ruth Minish Daniel and Nell Minish Fitzpatrick; brothers, Walter Minish, Bennett Minish, Arnold Minish, Ferris Minish, R.B. Minish and Lamar Minish.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janice Minish and Walter Peck, Savannah; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Teresa Minish, Commerce; three grandchildren, Allison Minish Beaudoin, Fayetteville, N.C., Hollis Peck Parrott, Athens, and Ashlee Peck Fleming, Savannah; one great-grandson, William “Big Boy” Butler Beaudoin, Fayetteville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 26, at the Erastus Christian Church with Billy Glosson and the Rev. Ronnie Healan officiating. Burial was in the Minish family cemetery.

Marion Jarrett
Marion F. Jarrett, 86, a former mayor of Maysville, died Monday, February 27, 2006, at the Bell Minor Nursing Home.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late G.J. and Leila Henderson Jarrett. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and was a deacon emeritus of Maysville Baptist Church. He was retired as the manager of Farmer’s Mutual Exchange and manager of Gold Kist Hatchery in Commerce. Mr. Jarrett was also retired from CWT, Inc. in Gainesville and was a long term mayor of Maysville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sacil Sailers Jarrett.
Survivors include daughters, Catherine Goodsell, Gillsville, and Yvonne Hughes, Lawrenceville; a son, Randall F. Jarrett, Minneapolis, Minn.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 1, at the Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Revs. Verlin Reece and Brad Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.

Annie Crawford
Annie Myrant Crawford, 102, of Nicholson, died Sunday, February 26, 2006, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
She was born on April 25, 1903, in Jackson County, and was the daughter of the late James S. and Ester Tolbert Adams. She was a homemaker and member of River of Life Worship Center. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband, Pet Crawford.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Crawford, Jefferson, Vernon Crawford and Bobby Crawford, both of Nicholson; two daughters, Beatrice Crawford Edwards, Watkinsville, and Lucille Crawford Brunet, Beaumont, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 1, at the River of Life Worship Center with the Revs. Dennis Kesler, Jimmy Edwards and Marty Smith officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.

Denzil Farris
Denzil Doncen Farris, 71, of Danielsville, formerly of Atlanta and Stearns, Kentucky, died Wednesday, February 22, at his residence six weeks after a hip fracture.
He was born on December 18, 1934, in Stearns, Ky., and was the son of the late Admiral Dewey and Laura Farris. He was an engineer with Western Electric in Atlanta. Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his first wife; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Hilty Farris, Danielsville; two daughters, Frances Kraemer, Marietta, and Ellen Loudermilk, Buford; a son, Robert Farris, Gray; two sisters, Darie Kmieciak, Franktown, Colo., and Dolores Winchester, Powell, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Farris, Stearns, Ky., and Damon Farris, Pine Knot, Ky.; and 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Ray, Katherine Ray, Robert Ray, Lee Farris, Justin Farris, Rebecca Farris, Daniel Loudermilk, Laura Farris, Zachary Kraemer and Ashlyn Loudermilk.
There was an informal gathering of close friends and family Saturday, February 25, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Loudermilk.

Willie Turpin
Willie B. Turpin, 86, of Talmo, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at BJC Medical Center in Commerce, following an extended illness.
She was born in Gilmer County, but lived most of her life in Jackson County, and many years in Hall County as well. She was self-employed, mainly as a farmer and enjoyed working with The Gainesville Times as a carrier for many years. She was a member of Talmo Baptist Church. Mrs. Turpin was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Turpin.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth O’Kelley, Cleveland, and Drenda Pierce, Hall County; a brother, L.D. Souther, Hall County; sisters, Mary Hart and Frankie Cowart, both of Hall County; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, in the chapel of Ward’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating. Burial was in the White Chapel Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Gwinnett County.

‘Polly’ Bell
Mary Jane “Polly” Bell, 75, of Maysville, died Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
She was the daughter of the late James A. and Elsie I. Maltby Dunn. She had worked for several years as an advertising sales manager for the Delavan Enterprise in Delavan, Wis., and in 1977, was the first lady president of the Delavan Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by husbands, Evan Bell and Paul Flynn, and a son-in-law, Patrick Gwynn.
Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Maureen Gwynn, Rochester, Minn., Tina and Roy McHaney, Commerce; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul “Mike” and Jean Flynn, Maysville, Patrick and Patti Flynn, Walworth, Wis., Timothy and Georgette Flynn, Williams Bay, Wis; a brother, Wilbur Dunn, Atlanta; sister, Ruth Braughton, Minot, N.D.; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 27, at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim McClendon officiating. Burial was in the Grey Hill Cemetery.

Christina Ledford
Christina Dawn Nipper Ledford, 32, of Hoschton, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, following a sudden illness.
She was born on August 5, 1973, in Gainesville, Fla., and was the daughter of the late Gene Autry “Cowboy” Nipper and Shirley Ann Bradley Jeter. She was employed with Anderson Merchandisers in Auburn. “She was the best mother of her children, was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed by neighbors, family and friends”, according to loved ones.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Lynn Ledford, Hoschton; sons, Cody Ledford and Wyatt Ledford, both of Hoschton; sister, Jamie Nichole Nipper Burris, Port Charlotte, Fla.; half-brother, Roy Eugene Nipper, Texas; grandmother, Mary Catherine Bradley, Jefferson; stepfather, Tom Jeter, Minnesota; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, at the graveside in the City of Newberry Cemetery, Newberry, Fla., with the Rev. Andy Cook officiating.

Rosa Mae Tonka Glasper, 63, of Jefferson, died Friday, February 24, 2006.
Survivors include her husband, Willie B. Mackey; daughters, Rosa Lee Glasper, Jackie Glasper and Tina Glasper; and sons, Pete Glasper and Larry Glasper.

Dr. Joseph McCarson
Dr. Joseph Benjamin McCarson Jr., 79, of Hull, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, following a sudden illness.
He was born on November 20, 1926, in Henderson County, N.C. and was the son of the late Joseph Benjamin McCarson Sr. and Ellen Corn Mc-Carson. He was a tent evangelist and attended the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Arcade. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, was vice-president of the Calvary Baptist Institute in Pasadena, Texas, and was a missionary to Meridia, Mexico, where he helped build schools and churches. Dr. McCarson was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Ann Garrett McCarson, Hull; daughters, Mavis Kerley, Sneedville, Tenn., and Martha Tittle, Danielsville; step-daughter, Debbie Garner, Chestnut Mountain; sons, the Rev. Malcolm McCarson, Asheville, N.C., and Marvin McCarson, Brick, N.J.; a brother, the Rev. Carl McCarson, Hendersonville, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 25, in the Abundant Life Fellowship Church with the Revs. James McDonald and Malcolm McCarson officiating. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Gainesville.
