The Kinks Plot First Full Reunion In Nearly 40 Years

    Wed, 02 Jan 2008 17:09:23

Extensive box set also on the way

The Daily Mail has confirmed rumors of a full-on Kinks reunion, quoting frontman Ray Davies as saying, "I spoke to [bassist Peter] Quaife about a month ago and he dearly wants to make another record with me … It would be great to get back together just to see what musical ideas we had and what would happen." Davies added that his brother, guitarist Dave Davies, is finally feeling better after suffering a stroke in 2004. Drummer Mick Avory is also open to playing, apparently.

As for Davies' reasoning for the reunion, the longtime solo artist explained, "You miss the interactive stuff. You get it to a degree with other musicians but probably not with the same passion."

Pete Townshend presented The Kinks' UK Music Hall of Fame induction in 2005, where the Who guitarist helped plant the idea of a reunion. Whatever the band decides to do, they're definitely releasing a box set called Retrospective later this year.
