Hip-Hop Rumors: KRS-One Spazzes? Another Chappelle Block Party? Three 6 Mafia Facts!

KRS-ONE SPAZZES AT STANFORD?

I don’t know if you all recall this intellectual beef from a few years ago, but it looks like KRS-One and Adisa Banjoko are at it again. Now, I wasn’t there, but at a recent Hip-Hop panel discussion at Stanford University in California things got heated! So, a while back Adisa challenged the notion “I Am Hip-Hop” and that Hip-Hop is actually a sub-culture. KRS-One established the notion of “I am Hip-Hop.” In 2004, Adisa wrote and editorial (click here to read) and KRS-One responded as well (click here to read) and its been on ever since. Well, somehow these two men were both at Stanford. I don’t know if Adisa was on the panel, but he was there. In this audio, you will hear a KRS-One that we haven’t heard in a long time. FACT OR RUMOR?

By any chance, did President Bush know about the dangers of Hurricane Katrina and the potential damage to the levees in New Orleans? Did he know at least a day before it all went down? I’m just asking because if you recall (post-Katrina) he said, "I don't think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees." Efforts to thoroughly investigate this matter have been stonewalled. At any rate, I want to know more about what rapper Juvenile claimed when he stated that the levees were, “breached on purpose to flood the hood instead of the pricey tourist areas?” I know Bush’s ratings are at an all time low, but what else does he have to do before they see that its time to get him up out of there?! If I shoot somebody by accident, I’m going to jail. Let me stop…HOLLA!


DAVE CHAPPELLE’S SECOND BLOCK PARTY?

I might be spilling the beans mad early, but I have to do it! I received a note that stated that Dave Chappelle is going to do another mini-block party in Washington D.C., his hometown. I can’t divulge the location, but I heard it’s going to be a benefit concert next month. Also, ticket sales will go to the Duke Ellington School of the Arts. This might not be a rumor since I heard it’s already sold out! There seems to be a snag, however. Some of the organizers aren’t really excited about Dave’s brand of comedy (are they deaf?) and are conflicted. Dave sells out (TICKETS!), but they don’t like his style. What do they do? They continue with the show – cash rules!


A NEW LAWSUIT COMING 50’s WAY?

Rumor has it that the family of Darryl "Homicide" a.k.a Hommo Baum is planning to sue 50 cent for defamation of character. "Hommo," if you recall, is the man who is allegedly named as 50’s shooter in one of his songs. Now, I don't know how true this is, but I heard that Brooklyn rapper Maino is related to Hommo by marriage. Still waters run deep! If you remember C. Delores Tucker sued Pac and somebody else sued him for defamation as well over the song “Against All Odds.”

JAY-Z’s NEXT SIGNEE?

I have to admit, I haven’t personally watched BET since Free (and by default AJ) left the network. And sadly, that includes “106 & Park’s Freestyle Friday.” Now, there is a new cat that recently was retired into the Hall of Fame. I heard the boy’s manager got notice that Shawn Carter wants to sign him to Def Jam Records. Yup. I don’t know the dude’s name, if he’s nice or wack or who he defeated; but, I heard he’s the next one to join the team. I’d be interested in hearing Joe Budden’s album first so if you know Jay-Z, tell him to kick The Growth out first.

I AM NO A DEVIL WORSHIPPER…

But I like Three Six Mafia and I am proud to say that a few people got to the bottom of this. The song in question, "Stay Fly," features a sample of "Tell Me Why Our Love Gone Cold." The late Mr. Willie Hutch, who is the father of Cold 187 of Above The Law, originally did this song. Anyway, there you go.
