Saving Jane books gig at BJC

UNIVERSITY PARK -- The band Saving Jane, with guests Josh Kelley and Cheyenne Kimball, will perform at 7:30 p.m. July 29 at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Saving Jane, newly signed with Universal Republic, has a hit single, "Girl Next Door," on the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart. The song also serves as the theme song of MTV's reality series, "Tiara Girls."

Also performing will be Josh Kelley, who signed with Hollywood Records and released his debut album "For The Ride Home" in 2003. His hit song "Amazing" was on the soundtrack to the romantic comedy "Raising Helen," and another song, "Almost Honest" is featured on WB's "Smallville." Kelley's new album, "Just Say the Word" is set for release July 24.

Cheyenne Kimball is the star of the MTV show "Cheyenne" and will release her debut album, "The Day Has Come," on July 11.

Student tickets go on sale at noon Thursday. Reserve and general admission tickets go on sale to the general public for $20 each at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets will be available at the Bryce Jordan Ticket Center, Eisenhower Auditorium, Penn State Tickets Downtown, the Altoona Campus ticket outlet, all Ticketmaster locations, by phone at 865-5555 or (800) 863-3336 or online at www.bjc.psu.edu.

Application deadline nears for Grange queen

Applications for the Grange Fair Queen Contest are due by July 1.

The queen will be crowned during the Centre County Grange Encampment and Fair, to be held Aug. 25 to Aug. 31 in Centre Hall. Applicants must be 16 to 20 years old and never married, and they must complete an essay of 300 words or less entitled "What the Centre County Grange Fair Means to My Community."

All applicants will receive a monetary prize and a basket of beauty supplies, as well as a pass to the fair. They will attend a luncheon in their honor, and will give a short speech entitled "Why Come to My Fair."

The coronation will be attended by the Pennsylvania secretary of agriculture, and the woman who is crowned will compete in the Pennsylvania Fair Queen contest.

Computers, cash missing from PSU Arts Building

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Seven computers and an undisclosed amount of cash were reported stolen Sunday from the Arts Building, Penn State police said.

Police said several offices were burglarized sometime between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon. The items taken -- plus the cash kept in a locked safe -- together are worth about $11,000, police said.
