Former member of the Be Good Tanyas, Texas native Jolie Holland records country music and folk music in a manner that conveys the spontaneous nature of her performance, somewhat similar to early recordings by Daniel Johnston or The Mountain Goats. Tom Waits is an outspoken fan of Holland's.
She has recorded two albums, Escondida and Catalpa.
