WATLEY PUNKS THE PRESS WITH PLASTIC SURGERY PHOTOS

Former SHALAMAR singer JODY WATLEY is chuckling after playing a practical joke on the US media, leading journalists to believe she's undergone a major facelift. The 1980s disco icon sent out staged photographs of her looking bruised, bloodied and bandaged to promote her new album THE MAKEOVER - and some newspapers fell for the ruse. Watley giggles, "I was doing the photos as a spoof because of my new album's title." The A NIGHT TO REMEMBER hitmaker insists the spoof story about her plastic surgery was hilarious for her family and friends because they all know how opposed to cosmetic enhancement she is. She adds, "I would never touch my face. I want to grow old gracefully like LENA HORNE and my mom, who's 70 and still looks beautiful."
