Jimmy Fallon Information
Jimmy Fallon
'James Thomas Fallon' (born September 19, 1974 in Brooklyn, New York) is an Irish-American comedian, actor and musician best known for his work on Saturday Night Live.
Fallon was raised in Saugerties, New York with his older sister Gloria and his parents, Jim and Gloria. Fallon attended St. Mary of the Snow, a Catholic, parochial school, and Saugerties High School. He graduated in 1992 and attended the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York. Fallon majored in History, dropping out 15 credits shy of a degree.
Saturday Night Live
From 1999 until his departure from the show in 2004, Fallon co-anchored Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" segment with Tina Fey. He was also an impressionist, portraying Pat O'Brien, Osama bin Laden, Jeff Zucker, Dennis Miller, Carson Daly, Chris Rock, Ryan Seacrest, Richard Simmons, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Howard Stern, Mick Jagger, John Mayer, Hilary Swank, Robin Williams, French Stewart, Van Morrison, Dave Matthews and Barry Gibb. Some famous characters he had include Joey Mack, Nick Burns, Sully of the Boston Teens, one of the Bloder Brothers (the other half being Chris Parnell), and Jarret from "Jarret's Room."
Fallon had a notorious tendency to lose character and start laughing in the middle of sketches, especially around fellow cast members and friends Horatio Sanz and Will Ferrell.
Beyond SNL
Before Saturday Night Live, Jimmy played in The Scheme (originally entitled The Entrepreneurs). His SNL career has led to roles in Taxi, Anything Else, Band of Brothers, Almost Famous, and Fever Pitch.
In 2002, Fallon released the comedy album The Bathroom Wall which was nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for Best Spoken Comedy Album.
He wrote a book in 1999 called "I Hate this Place: The Pessimist's Guide to Life" with sister Gloria about his brief time in Los Angeles. In 2005 he will release a children's book called Snowball based on a song from his album.
Fallon was chosen for People Magazine's 50 Most Eligible Bachelors as well as People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 2002.
Fallon co-hosted the 2001 MTV Movie Awards with Kirsten Dunst and hosted MTV Video Music Awards alone the next year. He also hosted the 2005 MTV Movie Awards.
Following the Boston Red Sox's World Series clinching game over the St. Louis Cardinals in 2004, Fallon ran onto the field at Busch Stadium with Drew Barrymore to film a scene for their movie Fever Pitch. The move angered numerous Red Sox fans, who felt their 86-year moment-in-waiting had been cheapened by Fallon, perceived by many as a mercenary interloper.
Fallon has also been the subject of much ribbing by Fox shows. While hosting SNL in an episode of Family Guy, Jimmy Fallon took Meg Griffin's virginity: she was unaware that they were on camera until, post-coital, Fallon shouted "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" On an episode of the Simpsons when Bart was on the computer, Homer asked him what he was doing. Bart said he was reading something funny. Homer then said "If you say Jimmy Fallon I'll know you're lying!" He has also recently been parodied on Madtv, a rival show of Saturday Night Live, by actor Ron Pederson.
