Live on the Levee kicks off hot music streak

After hearing Hootie and the Blowfish and Jason Mraz concerts at Fair St. Louis, were you wondering "Is that all there is?"

Nope.

There's much more in the offing for free outoor concerts, food and fireworks on the St. Louis riverfront and it starts this weekend with the first installments of Live on the Levee. Sister Hazel and Better Than Ezra will perform Friday. Then, on Saturday, it's India Arie, known for her soulful strumming, with Coco Soul.

Here's the schedule for both nights:

5 p.m. Eats Bridge opens. It's pedestrian-only for the evening with goo, seating and live music.

6 p.m. opening act

8 p.m. headlinging act.

9 p.m. fireworks

10 p.m. grounds close

Elsewhere in St. Louis this weekend (although you'll have to part with some serious dinero to hear them):

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

Country's favorite couple will bring their "Soul2Soul II" tour to St. Louis' Savvis Center at 8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $45, $65, $85. It's the top touring act in the nation at the moment, accoring to the Associated Press.

Mary J. Blige

Mary J. Blige and special guests Jaheim & LaToya will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the UMB Bank Pavilion, 14141 Riverport Drive, Maryland Heights, Mo. Reserved tickets are $62.50-$32.50; lawn tickets are $20; Ticketmaster outlets or call (618) 222-2900.

Ozzfest

Then, you'll have only have time to catch a few ZZZZZZZs and brush your teeth before heading back to the pavilion to catch a whole bunch of bands at Ozzfest.

The music starts at 11 a.m. Featured bands include: System of a Down, Disturbed, Hatebreed, Lacuna Coil and Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society. Tickets are $39.50-$75. Call (618) 222-2900.

O.A.R.

Grassroots legends O.A.R. (aka Of a Revolution) will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday at The Fox Theatre in St. Louis. Jack's Mannequin will open the show.

The Pageant
