Selby in Tigers squad

TONS OF TALENT: Jade Selby

Four centuries in one season earns selectors' interest Jade Selby has been given the perfect way to celebrate his call- up to the Tasmanian Tigers.
Four centuries in last season's NTCA competition earned the Launceston captain not only State recognition but also four $100 meal vouchers at the Country Club - and he is not short of potential guests.
Presenting the 28-year-old batsman with his prize, the venue's sponsorship manager, Phil Atkins, suggested he could either take 32 of his teammates for breakfast or 16 of them for dinner.
But Selby kept a straight bat by suggesting that his wife, Alissa, would be top of his list.
"It was a good season and great to be rewarded with both this and the Tigers call-up," said Selby, whose grand final double century and unbeaten ton helped secure the premiership.
"There are no guarantees that I will play any games with them, but at the moment it's just a good opportunity to be there. I've had my first training session with them and it was a real eye-opener; the players were brilliant - they're a great bunch of blokes."
Selby, who is the Tasmanian Cricket Association's Northern game development manager, said the organisation was reviewing the pathway of advancement for cricketers in the State and he was delighted to be invited, along with Wynyard's Nick Grainger, to join training.
"With the current set-up, they are more willing to reward people from around the State," he said.
"If you have two or three consistent seasons, they are willing to have a look at you."
