Imogen Heap Information
Imogen Heap
'Imogen Heap' (b. December 9 1977) is a British singer-songwriter from Essex.
The singer enjoyed a prestigious live debut - performing four songs, backed by friends Acacia, between sets by The Who and Eric Clapton at the 1996 Prince's Trust Concert in Hyde Park, London. She grew up playing music from an early age and by the time of her eleventh birthday had begun to write her own songs.
Aside from her solo career, Heap is also a member of electro-pop group Frou Frou, along with producer Guy Sigsworth. Frou Frou covered "Holding Out for a Hero", originally performed by Bonnie Tyler for the movie Shrek 2. Their song "Let Go" also was featured on the movie Garden State. The two had previously collaborated on "Getting Scared", a track from Heap's first album I, Megaphone.
Recently, Heap's music has come into the limelight when her song "Hide and Seek" was featured in the closing minutes of The O.C.'s second season. "Hide and Seek" was released as a digital download on the 5th July 2005 and has become a digital hit single, peaking at #8 on the iTunes UK download chart.
Heap released her second album Speak For Yourself in the UK on July 18th 2005 which featured "Hide and Seek".
Imogen Heap has contributed a song to two different film soundtracks: a song called "Spooky" for the soundtrack to Just Like Heaven and song named "Can't Take It In" for the soundtrack to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. She also recently worked on a Britney Spears song called "Over To You Now". Imogen Heap provided the background vocals, as well as some of the producing of the song with Guy Sigsworth.
Heap also has appeared either as a guest vocalist/co-writer/remixer or musician for many other artists including Jeff Beck, Temposhark, LHB, Way out West, Jon Bon Jovi, Mich Gerber, Sean Lennon, Urban Species, Blue October, Nik Kershaw and Acacia.
