Quick Hits: Janet Jackson, Paul Wall, Hatebreed, American Idol
May 4, 2006

Ms. Jackson
if you're nasty.

Fans who recently surfed over to JanetJackson.com were able to hear a new song, "Weekend," that the singer posted on the site. But Janet recently posted a message on the site that says the song is not her new single nor will it be on her upcoming album, 20 Years Old. It was just a gift to fans. "I can't wait for you to hear my new single, 'Call On Me,' which goes to radio June 19," Janet writes. She also promises a 20 Years Old tour.

Rapper Paul Wall is the next in line to get his own reality show on VH1. According to the Hollywood Reporter, VH1 has ordered a pilot for an unscripted series featuring Wall. The show will be produced by Pink Sneakers, the production company behind VH1's Hogan Knows Best. Wall is currently in the studio working on a new album, which is due out later this year.

Connecticut Hardcore heroes Hatebreed have inked a deal with Roadrunner Records. Their first Roadrunner release, Supremacy, is due in stores on August 29, and the band will appear on the mainstage at Ozzfest this summer. "We feel that our new material is beyond anything we've ever done as far as ferocity and pure adrenaline goes,” says singer Jamey Jasta, who also hosts MTV2's Headbanger's Ball. “It is our most brutal and focused album to date while remaining true to our Hardcore roots. We've added more thrash, death and crossover elements and have been able to keep the songs memorable and precise. To me every song on this album is an anthem. Every song gives me chills and makes me feel completely charged.”

Seventeen-year-old Paris Bennett was the latest contestant voted off American Idol last night, leaving four left in the running. Next week, Taylor Hicks, Chris Daughtry, Elliott Yamin and Katharine McPhee will represent the final four as they take on the music of Elvis Presley and get critiqued by music producer and Casablanca Records boss Tommy Mottola.
