The Subways + Hard-Fi Pull Out Of Coachella

British rock upstarts The Subways and their house-rocking countrymen Hard-Fi have both pulled out of next weekend’s Coachella Arts & Music Festival.
Hard-Fi singer Richard Archer and Subways vocalist Billy Lunn are both suffering from conditions that affect their vocal chords, spokespersons for the two groups confirmed last night.
"I am deeply frustrated by the problem and sorry for any inconvenience this has caused," Archer said in a statement.
Archer’s condition affects six dates in total, including a series of North American shows that were expected to start Saturday in Vancouver. With the exception of Coachella, all of the dates are currently being reschedule for June.
Meanwhile The Subways’ camp appears to have been hit harder due to nodules appearing on frontman Lunn’s vocal chords. Earlier this week Lunn’s brother, Subways’ drummer Josh Morgan told Filter, the group was relaxing in England on their first break in two years. "We never get a break so this is our first. We’ve had to cancel a couple of dates unfortunately. Billy’s hurt his voice pretty bad," he said.
Though they only expected to cancel a few European shows in the run up to Coachella doctors have determined Lunn’s vocal condition is so severe it merits a six-week break which is expected to affect the bands upcoming US tour.
All is not lost however. According to his brother Josh, the band may still be able to rehearse some new songs the band is preparing -- sans Billy’s vocals. "We’ve got fifty new songs," Josh said on Wednesday. "Billy’s writing non stop. He’s shown me and Charlotte about twelve so far. We’re going to take it into the studio soon."
