Gene Loves Jezebel is a goth band from the early 1980s founded by twin brothers, Michael and Jay Aston.
Michael started using the name against the wishes of the remaining four members after an unsuccessful reunion tour in 97. The band had, in fact, never split up, and had made two albums without Michael after he left in 89.
Following the reunion Michael put together a band with all Americans and called it Gene Loves Jezebel. A huge legal battle errupted.
There are now two Gene Loves Jezebels. One fronted by Jay (with the other members from the band's most successful period in the late 80s). And one with an American line-up fronted by Michael.
