Fun time in Mayo

FUN Lovin' Criminals make their first visit to Mayo when they play in the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar on 28 April. Fun Lovin' Criminals formed when Huey, Fast and Steve-O met in New York's bar, Limelight.

They soon became roommates and started jamming together in their apartment until they had enough material to convince the Limelight's manager to let them play a gig at the club.

Spotted by EMI America, the band recorded and released their debut album "Come Find Yourself," which spawned the hit singles 'The Fun Lovin' Criminal', 'King of New York' and 'Scooby Snacks'. Two years later came the follow up album "100% Colombian".

Drummer Steve-O left and was replaced by Mackie.

The new-look band went on to create refreshing new sounds, combining hip-hop and jazz rhythms with more traditional rock techniques. But what sets them aside from any other band is their ability to make a credible piece of modern rock music out of styles and instruments that were perhaps previously considered boring.

Other album releases included "Mimosa", "Loco", a best-of collection called "Bag of Hits", and "Welcome To Poppy's".

Around the time of the release of "Welcome To Poppy's" the band joined forces with another new drummer 'Frank the Rhythm Man'. After four albums proper, one 'lounge' album, a DVD and a top 5 "Best of....." package, the band have

now returned with their latest offering "Livin' In The City".

See the Fun Lovin' Criminals live at the TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar on Friday 28 April, at 9pm.

Tickets are available at •32 each from the Box Office on 0818 300000, all usual outlets, or online at www.royaltheatre.ie
