The Blood Brothers
Seattle band The Blood Brothers are working on the follow-up to 2004's Crimes album, but will release an EP to get fans through in the interim.
The post-hardcore quintet entered the studio last month with Crimes producer John Goodmanson (Sleater-Kinney) and Guy Picciotto (Rites Of Spring, Fugazi). The busy band's fifth album this decade is expected to be released in the fall.
V2 will bridge that gap by releasing the Love Rhymes With Hideous Car Wreck EP on May 23. The seven-track disc features the Crimes version of the title track as well as a live recording of the song from last summer's Reading Festival. It also includes the "Love Rhymes" music video, Crimes outtakes, alternate versions and remixes, including a cover of Gang Of Four's "Anthrax."
The Blood Brothers have also spawned two spin-off bands, the electro-punk Neon Blonde and grindcore outfit, Head Wound City. Neon Blonde released Chandeliers In The Savannah late last year.
Blood Brothers/Neon Blonde singer Johnny Whitney was recently named one of the finalists for People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals' world's sexiest vegetarian honour.
The Blood Brothers will play the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in England on May 13 and the Bumbershoot fest in Seattle on September 2. They're expected to launch a tour following the release of the next album.
