'Freeway' (born 'Leslie Pridgen' in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American rapper, signed to Def Jam Records. His solo album is Philadelphia Freeway and features such hits as What We Do. Guest spots include Jay-Z and Beanie Sigel. The album also features collaborations with Nelly, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey. Although sales lacked compared to his fellow Roc-A-Fella artists, his debut clearly edged out all of them. Freeway's sophomore effort due to be titled Free At Last will be released next year.
Biography
He began rapping while in high school. He later came to meet fellow Roc-a-Fella artist Beanie Sigel who helped him get a contract with the record label.
Freeway is well known for his long beard, which he keeps due to his belief in Islam. He is notable for the unique ability to rap while refraining from rhyming. His faith is clear when he raps:
"They say Muhammad(pbuh) walked with a sword,
I roll with a gat,
It's the same shit, different days and times."

State Property Break-Up
Freeway was part of the rap group hailing from Philadelphia, State Property. When Beanie Sigel (Beans) was incarcerated in 2004, the group slowly faded. The relations were strained between Beanie Sigel and him as cited by Beans that he did not get one call from his fellow State Property members. It is reported that Freeway and Beanie Sigel have squashed any beef they might have had.
