Flaw Information
Flaw
'Flaw' was a Nu Metal band from Louisville, Kentucky. However, despite their genre, their sound contained a diversity that went beyond the boundaries of their Nu Metal classification.
Flaw maintained that they had to keep a good relationship with their fans in order to sustain longevity. As a result, they wrote for the fans in hopes that they would take something from the songs during the listening experience and apply it to their own lives.
Style
Flaw has quite a different style compared to that heard within the sound of other Nu Metal bands.
Flaw's guitar work is intricate; it flows with the song, yet isn't so simplistic that it follows the drums. Their bass lines have major funk influence, but not to the point of it becoming fusion. Flaw also totes the typical funk-influenced drumlines; Metal-esque but not basic in their nature or sound. Chris Volz' voice also lent itself to the style of the band's sound, with a seemingly unusual rise and fall that incorporated melodic harmonies and screams of rage.
The Dissolution of Flaw
After their two albums combined failed to sell more than 500,000 copies, Flaw was dropped by their label, Universal Records, in late 2004 and singer Chris Volz left the group shortly after to start an entirely new project of his own, initially entitled "Vent", which is now known as Five Bolt Main.
The band's final days left many angry fans venting on the band's message board. They had setup a few shows within their surrounding states, and when the break-up news began to fly, no one from the band stepped forward to admit their (at least temporary) break-up. Several fans drove hundreds of miles to see the shows only to be told by club managers that the band unexpectedly canceled without notice. The group's website actually still has the notice which reads "Flaw is still playing."
