'Fefe Dobson' (born as Felicia Lynn Dobson on February 28, 1985) is a Canadian singer and entertainer.
Early Life
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Dobson cites musical influences such as Judy Garland and Kurt Cobain, although she might be considered comparable to Alanis Morissette, Ana Johnsson, Avril Lavigne, Macy Gray, and Nellie McKay. She trained herself to sing using a karaoke machine her mother got her for her twelfth birthday. Dobson is known for a blend of styles, incorporating her unique voice with heavy electric guitar riffs. Dobson is biracial: her mother is white and her father is Black. Dobson's father walked out on the family before she was born; the song "Unforgiven", on her debut album, explains the emotion she went through. Dobson was the only non-white member of her family growing up, and she had to deal with considerable hate because of her mixed family. In a 2004 MTV interview, Dobson told a story about her older sister being picked on in school because she had a black sister.
First Album (Self-Titled)
Dobson's first album, Fefe Dobson, was released on December 9, 2003 by Island Records which has sold 304,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Her first two singles, "Bye Bye Boyfriend" and "Take Me Away", were released well before that date. The second single, "Take Me Away", received greater airplay than "Bye Bye Boyfriend" in the United States.
2003-2004
Dobson joined Camplified 2003, along with Skye Sweetnam. She has appeared on the soundtracks for Raising Helen with the song "If You Walk Away", and The Perfect Score with a revision of "Everything".
During much of 2004, Fefe did a lot of promotion for her debut album, appearing for a live performance on TRL, and numerous magazine covers and articles. In July 2004, she released a download-only digital audio single, "Don't Go (Girls and Boys)". Her album was later reissued with the single added. Dobson received considerable attention throughout 2004, appearing as a spokesperson for the Got Milk? ad campaign.
2005
As 2005 rolled around, Fefe recorded a song, titled "Truth Anthem", on the Much Dance 2005 CD, where the profits would benefit the Canadian branch of the charitable organization War Child. In April 2005, Dobson was nominated for two Juno Awards, one for album of the year and the other, Fan Choice Award; both won by Avril Lavigne. in the summer of 2005 dobson was in a public service ad called "make poverty history" wotvh brings awareness to child poverty worldwide dobson is very devoted to this campain cuse when she was growing up in canada she came from a poor family .
Sunday Love
Fefe will release her follow-up album to her 2003 debut on February 7 2006. The first single "Don't Let It Go To Your Head" was released to radio in July 2005, and a video was released in October of that year.
