MusicFest: Busta Rhymes replaces Fantasia


(June 30, 2006) — Rapper Busta Rhymes has been added to the 12th Annual Rochester MusicFest lineup.

He'll be the headliner for the July 8 show, replacing Fantasia, and joining former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard that night.

MusicFest begins at 6 p.m. Friday with an "Old School Hip-Hop Night" at the High Falls Festival Site at Brown's Race, with DJ Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane, Shee Gutta and Whodini.

The event moves to Frontier Field for 3 p.m. starts the next two days. July 8 features Rhymes, Studdard, Cheri Dennis, Avant, Cassie, Cherish, Baby Cham, Q Amey, Sincere, Scandalous, Mila J and LeToya. July 9 offers Charlie Wilson, Cameo, Heather Headley, the Emotions, K-Ci & JoJo, Kem, Doug E. Fresh, Jimmie Highsmith Jr. & Tyler Owens, the Mambo Kings, Caron Wheeler and another late addition, rapper Fonzworth Bentley.

Tickets are available at the Frontier Field box office, (585) 423-9464, or at www.redwingsbaseball.com. A two-day pass is $50 for adults, $18 for children ages 7-12 and free for children 6 and younger. Per-day is $32 for adults, $10 for children 7-12 and free for children younger than 6. The July 7 High Falls "Evening of Old School Hip-Hop" is free, but is sold out.
