When a ballsy female concertgoer reached out and grabbed Tim McGraw's nether regions Saturday at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, his missus told the errant fan in no uncertain terms that that sort of behavior is frowned upon in them there parts (no pun intended).
"Somebody needs to teach you some class, my friend," a finger-wagging Hill told the woman. "You don't go grabbin' somebody else's, somebody's husband's [privates], you understand me? That's very disrespectful!"
(Check out The Hum to watch Hill take offense to the offensive behavior.)
McGraw had been walking between a barricade and the stage to greet fans, most of whom, while ecstatic, behaved themselves.
And as far as Hill is concerned, she did what she had to do.
"Faith dealt with the situation on the spot and said all that needed to be said from the stage," her publicist, Paul Freundlich, told People on Monday.
Radio host C.J. Clement, who hosts the weekday morning show on KTDY-FM , an adult-contemporary station in Lafayette, said that a number of female callers this week have expressed their support for Hill.
"Most said they were embarrassed this happened in Lafayette," Clement said. "They sided totally with Faith defending her man, standing her ground."
The gig at the Cajundome was the only Louisiana stop on the couple's Soul2Soul 2007 tour, which has nine more dates, including one tonight in Denver.
Last year's Soul2Soul II, a reprise of the Grammy Award-winning duo's successful Soul2Soul tour in 2000, was the third highest-grossing tour of 2006, raking in $88.8, behind only the Rolling Stones and Barbra Streisand and ahead of Madonna's Confessions tour, and the biggest country-music act.
According to Pollstar, Hill and McGraw have grossed about $23.1 million so far in '07 and will probably have to battle it out with Kenny Chesney for bragging rights this year.
The latest incarnation of Soul2Soul wraps up Aug. 11 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Hill has a best-of album, The Hits, slated to drop Oct. 2 and a Christmas album in the works for 2008.
