The pay cable network has ordered six half-hour episodes of the show to air early next year.
Described as "musicians on musicians," the still-untitled project will feature Stewart interviewing fellow musicians about their craft. Los Angeles-based Stewart already has approached several of his rock-star friends to appear on the program, sources said. They also are expected to perform.
Stewart has worked with such musicians as Aretha Franklin, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan and the Neville Brothers. He and Jagger won a Golden Globe last year for their work on the soundtrack to the 2004 feature "Alfie."
