A fight over cleanliness landed a Kenmore roommate in prison this week. Samuel E. Paige, 46, of Elmwood Avenue was sentenced to one to three years in prison for cutting the left elbow of Russell Hart, 43, as they quarreled in the flat they shared about 11:30 p.m. Feb. 18, 2005.
Prosecutor Mary Beth DePasquale said Hart suffered the wound when Paige threw the knife at Hart while quarreling over Paige's sloppiness. Hart had let Paige move in with him because they worked together in maintenance.
Paige, who pleaded guilty Feb. 16 to a felony charge of second-degree attempted assault, was taken from court in handcuffs after sentencing by Erie County Judge Timothy J. Drury. DePasquale said Paige, who had been free on bail until Thursday, served a brief jail term for a gun charge in Buffalo three years ago.
