A Delaware activist is scheduled to get a hearing Friday in Virginia on charges stemming from her arrest during a March protest at the Pentagon.
June Eisley says she was one of several protesters who scaled a fence during a protest marking the third anniversary of the Iraq war. She says the protesters wanted to present Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld (news - bio) with a list of soldiers killed in Iraq.
Eisley is a member of the peace group Pacem in Terris and has been arrested before. She says being arrested is always a risk when people engage in civil disobedience.
She says she doesn't regret her arrest and says she feels so strongly about the war that she would take part in any kind of non-violent resistance to it.

I believe that portion of the Pentagon fence does not have any "No Tresspassing" signs. I think "No Tresspassing" signs have to be posted for there to be a case here.

CJ... I agree with much of what you say; I support peaceful protest and, as we live in the Nations' Capital, we have to expect protests. But when people start trespassing, destroying property, etc., then all bets are off. Sad thing is, if the police even use so much as a stun gun or taser on these people, then the police are taken to task for "brutality." I've always wondered 2 things, though; 1; don't these people have jobs? It seems you see the same people over and over again at protests, no matter what time of year, or how long the protest... 2; if they have no jobs, how in the world are they living, who gives them money? Very strange.

Bringing police actions against one's self is an idiotic and selfish way of attempting to get your point across and it takes resources away from those law-abiding citizens who really need the police service.
Therefore, line 'em up and shoot these resource sucking protesters. I'll deliver your name to Rummy.
As for those who feel that it's OK to illegally trying to gain access to a US Government facility, it's against the law and ANY US citizen in their right mind would want their government facilities protected from adversaies, foriegn or national. And when you're scaling walls, those charged with protection can't tell what your motive/s is.
Peaceful protesting is a government given right in the USA and I stand by that.
