The Fix
Angelina Jolie to play Mariane Pearl. Photo editors put a price on Holmes-Cruise baby's head. Plus: Justin and Cameron engaged?
Morning Briefing:
On the Jolie-Pitt casting couch: Angelina Jolie announced that her first post-pregnancy on-screen role will be as the widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, Mariane, in the movie adaptation of Mariane's book about her husband's kidnapping and murder, "A Mighty Heart." The movie's being produced by Brad Pitt, and the role of Mariane just happens to be one that had long ago been promised Jennifer Aniston. Pitt and Aniston bought the film rights to the book during their marriage for their then co-owned production company, Plan B, but Aniston gave up her stake in the company when the couple divorced. Yet more on lil' Suri: TMZ's report on what photo editors at various glossies say, anonymously, about what they'd pay for pictures of baby Suri seems to put the kibosh on the theory that we haven't seen any photos yet because no magazine wants them. A source at OK! says an "exclusive, posed" spread (creepy!) would go for between $4-$5 million, while staffers at In Touch and Life & Style put the price tag somewhere around $2-$3 million. A source at People says they'd definitely go for less than Shiloh's (which the mag reportedly bought for $4.1 million), and that everyone's actually more interested in Suri's mom, anyway: "People are fascinated by Katie Holmes, who's leading such a weird life now." For those who smell a whiff of conspiracy in the whole Cruise/Holmes baby-making thing, TMZ also has a short timeline of Holmes' pregnancy, complete with some difficult-to-explain-away photos. And elsewhere on the Web you can find the perfectly round belly shot, the revealing unitard shot and, of course, the possibly digitally-manipulated stretch marks shot.
