School board considers technology, teaching plans

The Arkansas City Board of Education will consider approving a $63,900 contract for early childhood professional development at its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today at Arkansas City High School.

The contract would include four training days and six consultation days with the Professional Development Institute, Mill Creek, Wash.

The board also will consider approving a three-year technology plan and recommending submission of the plan to the Kansas State Department of Education.

Architect Duane Hickerson will present the final architectural plans for a new USD 470 district office facility for the board's review and approval. Anticipated bid opening for the new facility in north Arkansas City will be in May. The current district headquarters is at 119 W. Washington Ave.
